Meet your Ally – Deirdriu Murray.
Hypnotherapist in Buncrana, Donegal

Portrait of alternative therapist Ally Dee, who specializes in maternal health anxiety and provides professional help for health anxiety with child for mothers.

Deirdriu Murray (Dee) is a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Fahan (just outside Buncrana), supporting parents across Donegal in person, and online worldwide.

Deirdriu is also a mother of four. That means you don’t have to explain the mental load you're struggling with. Or the strange mix of love, anger and guilt  that can sit in the body at the same time. She's been there.

Support for anxious mothers at every stage in Donegal & beyond

The conversation around maternal health often focuses only on postpartum. But there are more shades to this. It can show up at any stage in motherhood, including:

9

Pregnancy and birth fears or trauma

Pregnancy can bring fear of loss, health anxiety, dread of giving birth or painful memories of a miscarriage or previous birth. You may find it difficult to trust your body or relax, even when everything appears to be going well.

9

Newborn phase and early motherhood

In the newborn months, lack of sleep can make every fear feel louder. You may check your baby’s breathing, worry constantly about feeding, illness or development, feel frightened by intrusive thoughts, or wonder why you do not feel the way you expected to.

9

Mum rage and strong emotions

Anger can be what shows on the surface when underneath you feel anxious, overstimulated, exhausted or unsupported. You may snap or feel a surge of rage that does not feel like you and then be left with guilt.

9

Working Motherhood

Returning to work or trying to keep a career moving while caring for a family can leave you pulled in every direction. You may feel guilty at work, guilty at home and as though neither part of your life is getting the best of you.

9

School struggles and teenage emotions

School difficulties, friendship problems, big emotions and the teenage years can leave you constantly wondering whether your child is okay. You may feel caught between stepping in and giving them space and carry their distress long after they have moved on.

9

Single parenting and co-parenting

Parenting without a partner can mean carrying the decisions, practical load and emotional responsibility with little space left for you. Co-parenting can bring a different strain: handovers, changing routines, separate household rules and difficult communication.

9

Patchwork and blended families

Bringing two families together can be full of love and still be hard work. Different parenting styles, ex-partners, new relationships, step-parent roles and loyalty conflicts can leave you questioning where you fit and how to make family life work for everyone.

9

Empty nest, loneliness and changing identity

When children leave home, the quiet may feel less freeing than you expected. You may feel lonely, unsure of your purpose or disconnected from the person you were before parenthood. Menopause and relationship changes can add another layer to this transition.

Whether you are preparing for a baby, raising children or teenagers, or adjusting to a quieter home, you do not need to wait until breaking point to ask for support.

This may be the kind of support you are looking for

  • You feel drained, on edge or disconnected. You want your energy back and more room to be present with your family.
  • Your mind goes straight to the worst-case scenario. You want those thoughts to loosen their grip so you can respond with more calm and perspective.
  • Qualifications matter but so does the person behind them. You want someone who empowers you instead of keeping you stuck in what is wrong. Someone who helps you draw on your inner resources, trust yourself and find your own way forward.

How to start working with Dee

The first step is a 30-minute consultation. It costs £30 (approximately €35 or $40).

This is your space to share what has been happening, ask questions and see whether Deirdriu feels like the right fit. Afterwards, you’ll receive a personalised suggestion for the next step and a clear quote for any follow-up sessions. The consultation does not commit you to booking anything further—the decision is entirely yours.

It is not a medical assessment or a hypnotherapy session.

Follow-up appointments are usually around 60 minutes. They combine solution-focused therapeutic conversation with a period of guided hypnotic relaxation.

Deirdriu will also provide an audio recording to use between sessions.

In person or online

In-person sessions take place in Fahan, near Buncrana on the Inishowen Peninsula.

Online sessions are available through Zoom.

Some parents appreciate being at home because it removes travel and childcare arrangements. Others prefer the separation of going to a clinic. The best format is the one that feels practical, private and appropriate for you.
